Finding a Chicago dog boarding facility has never been easier! Dog boarding throughout
Chicagoland can be found by utilizing our Hot Picks page
or Search the List page!
Here are some helpful tips and questions to ask when looking for a reputable pet
boarding facility:
- Chicago dog boarding facilities have to be licensed by the Illinois Department of
Agriculture. Does the facility have a current license to operate?
- Does the pet boarding facility accept cats or other animals as well, and how will
they be separated?
- How often are the dogs let out to exercise? Are they put into doggy daycare during
the day, and is there an additional cost?
- Where will the dogs be relieving themselves? Does the dog boarding facility have
a gravel pit, concrete pen or artificial turf?
- Make sure you get a complete tour of the dog boarding facility. No area should be
off limits. Is the facility clean or does it smell badly when you first walk in?
- Can you bring your dog’s personal belongings with him/her? Is someone at the facility
overnight?
- How close are they to a veterinarian? Do they have a vet on call? Do they have transportation
to get your pet to the veterinarian?
- Will the dog boarding facility feed them according to your instructions, or will
they have to eat different food at a different time?
- Can you pick up your pets any time or day? What is the late fee?
- Is the staff friendly? Remember, how the staff treats you is indicative of how they
will probably treat your pet!
- Remember: belonging to a professional or trade organization looks good on paper,
but really does nothing to validate or secure an individual’s professionalism. (This
goes for any profession!)
- Chicago dog boarding facilities are plentiful throughout the city; if you are not
satisfied- do not settle! Find another. Your pet’s welfare is at stake! If you are
happy with their service, repay them by posting a positive review on PetServicesReview.com
so we can share it with the rest of Chicagoland!
